![]() ![]() You also need to make sure that C1Pro is not applying sharpening to the DNG, it does this by default as it treats the DNG as a raw file. If you use DNG then you need to white balance which is extra work in C1Pro. There is really no extra work, you are just spending more time in DXO-PL 2 and less in C1Pro, overall it stays the same. I primarily use C1Pro as well and used to use DNG transfer but I now prefer to get the colours right in DXO-PL 2 and export as TIFF. ![]() Remember that you also get the chance to use dcp profiles in DXO which may or may not be of interest. Also raised shadows in DXO-PL 2 will be noise reduced by PRIME. If you don't do this then highlights that are clipped and shadows that are crushed will be lost. You are demosaicing the raw with DXO and you need to ensure all large tonal adjustments are carried out in DXO-Pl 2. Leaving all the controls in DXO at zero is not ideal. ![]() Would there be any weak links in that chain? Would I be missing some notably better processing along the way? Import those into Capture One, generating pretty big previews (for cropping and detail work), edit there, and then export PNGs. In PhotoLab, with all controls at zero except for lens corrections, render the NEFs, apply Prime noise reduction (with settings according to ISO) and export as DNG files. Please just check me whether this workflow would make sense: I take thousands of shots, but I don't have a big problem with batch processing overnight. There are, however, a few things missing in PhotoLab, and for me, when initially culling, NEF files out of a D850 take a pretty long time to load in PhotoLab, as compared to previews in Capture One. I work at 25600 ISO a lot and then crank up the shadows, and the Prime noise reduction in PhotoLab handles that amazingly well. So I've used Capture One for years and Lightroom for years before that, and now I'm trying out DXO Photolab. ![]()
